Methane Emissions Higher than Estimated

Methane Emissions Higher than Estimated

After carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) has the largest global impact on greenhouse gases. The global fossil fuel industry is contributing to the total atmospheric methane, but how much and how do the emission trends really look like?

Researchers have built the biggest database of global methane emissions so far and found that emissions from gas, oil and coal production are up to 60% higher than estimated.

This calls for a revision of the climate prediction models.
