SO2 Monitoring in Sulfuric Acid Production Plants

Watch our video about sulfur dioxide monitoring

Process monitoring in sulfuric acid production requires reliable detection of gases such as sulfur dioxide (SO₂) in the gas phase. Watch our video to learn more about the challenges involved and how effective monitoring can support reliable process control.

Reliable monitoring under challenging conditions

Monitoring sulfur dioxide can be particularly challenging due to high SO₂ concentrations, elevated temperatures, and high-pressure conditions. Measurements may be required at different stages of the process, with concentrations ranging from just a few mg/m³ to several percent by volume.

Many conventional monitoring systems can struggle in these harsh conditions and may require frequent maintenance.

In contrast, OPSIS monitoring systems are designed to operate reliably in demanding environments with minimal maintenance. They can also be used across multiple stages of sulfuric acid production, providing monitoring throughout the process.
