Gas calibration involves comparing a known gas concentration with the reading produced by an instrument exposed to that gas. This comparison allows the instrument’s zero level and amplification to be adjusted, helping ensure accurate and consistent measurements.

In many monitoring applications, regulations specify when and how calibration must be performed. However, accurate calibration is equally important in process control, where reliable monitoring data is essential for effective operation and control.

Accredited calibration for long-term accuracy

OPSIS operates a well-equipped laboratory capable of calibrating instruments for gases detected by its systems. Calibration gases and reference materials are traceable to national and international standards, while the laboratory is accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

The OPSIS continuous emissions monitoring system was the first system certified for annual calibration. Testing demonstrated that the calibration interval could be extended to one year, reducing maintenance requirements while maintaining measurement accuracy.
